An item that pulls together or accelerates the overall look of an outfit. Belts are not only functional for holding bottoms in place, but are also an essential fashion piece for fashionistas, as seen with the extravaganza belts with large GUCCI logos on the buckle or OFF-WHITE’s almost too long G.I. belts hanging over jackets. The trend is still fresh in our memories. The scene in the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” where Meryl Streep, who plays Miranda, reprimands Anne Hathaway, who plays Andy, was also belt-related. Belts are a fashion necessity, and Déhanche is a brand that manufactures belts in a sustainable way. Their belts are simple yet sophisticated and beautiful works of art that bring out the best in women.
Belts for women by women
Déhanche is entirely handmade in Italy. It is led by the designer Erin Webb, present an aesthetic that caters to all shapes, races, and diversities for every women. Déhanche is a French word that refers to the asymmetrical position of the hips of ancient Greek statues, and the name derives from their feminine softness and sensuality.
“The belt takes a different approach from accessories such as bags and shoes. It can be cinched at the waist to show off the curves of the body, or it can easily be fastened low on the hips for an effortless look,” says Erin. The Hollyhock, one of the signature items, is made of fine leather with four metal rings and is both minimalist and richly designed. Timeless design makes it one of the essential wardrobe must-haves for women.
Certified materials and a good working environment that support their commitment to keep high quality
Manufactured with quality, durability, comfort, environment, and animal welfare in mind, Déhanche belts are carefully made one by one without any stock, and this reduces waste.
The metal parts are made of zamak, a recyclable material mainly composed of zinc and aluminum.
They only use leather certified by the LWG (Leather Working Group). Leather certified by the LWG exceeds strict standards for water consumption, energy use, chemical use, and waste disposal, which is a sign that the leather is environmentally friendly. As part of its animal welfare policy, Déhanche and its partner suppliers are required to follow the five freedoms for animals set forth by the Farm Animal Welfare Committee. These five freedoms are: freedom from hunger or thirst, freedom from discomfort, freedom from pain, injury or disease, freedom to express normal behavier, and freedom from fear and distress. The company has also teamed up with Swedish doconomy to calculate the Co2 emissions from the materials, packaging, and delivery of Déhanche’s belts as they are being manufactured. For every belt purchased, a portion of the profit is invested in decarbonization projects, helping to restore and protect nature and decarbonize it.
Déhanche belts are produced in a leather workshop in Verona that has been in operation for three generations. Each belt is carefully manufactured by artisans in Italy, the home of leather. A belt that connects the highest quality and tradition, and that will give you a new style and shine forever in your closet.
